Windfall — Green Jade Coin Ring

Sale priceS$115.00

Old Chinese coins were strung and carried, and what followed was called good fortune. Here the coin is minted small, in green Burmese jadeite with a flash of zircon. The band is a thin line of gold that ends open, easy to size by hand. It goes on in the morning and weighs almost nothing. Small change, adding up.

  • Jade: green Burmese jadeite, Type A, untreated, from Myanmar
  • Material: gold-plated sterling silver 925, set with zircon
  • Dimensions: 4 × 4 mm stone, 2 mm band, 1.5 g, adjustable US 6¾–9¼ (HK 15–20)
Sourcing

Every piece of Zeneuf jade can be traced. Each one is logged under a reference number, tied to a record of where it came from: the artisan who carved it, the variety of jade, how it was treated, and where it was mined. Nothing leaves us sold as simply "jade," and nothing is described on a guess. If you ever want to know more about the piece in your hands, send us your order number and we'll answer from its record.

Care

Jade is one of the toughest stones in common wear, made to be worn every day and kept for years. It asks for very little: take it off before the shower, swimming, sport, or cleaning, and put on perfume and lotion before your jewelry, not after. To clean it, wipe it with a soft, damp cloth and dry it. Skip ultrasonic cleaners and jewelry dips. Keep it in its pouch, apart from other pieces, so harder stones can't scratch it.

Genuine Burmese jadeite

The coin is green Burmese jadeite from Myanmar, the source of the finest jadeite in the world, cut round and pierced through the center. Even at 4 mm the green is bright and even, semi-translucent when the light gets behind it. It is Type A: natural jadeite with no bleaching, no resin, and no dye, the only kind Zeneuf sells. Set with a flash of zircon on a thin, open band of gilded sterling silver.

The jade coin, worn for good fortune

The coin with a square hole at its center is an old symbol of prosperity. Coins were once strung through that hole and carried at the belt, and a strung coin meant good fortune on its way. Cut in green jadeite, the coin is worn for good fortune and a year that adds up. On the finger it is a small, daily reminder that fortune favors the ones who show up. Give it for a new venture, a promotion, or the Lunar New Year.

Style & Size

Modern jade ring for the everyday hand

Modern here means a fine open band with one small stone at its end. The 4 × 4 mm stone is a small point of color between the knuckles, easy to wear beside other rings. The band adjusts from US 6¾ to 9¼ (HK 15–20). It slips into a stack of thin gold rings, or sits alone on the ring finger with a white shirt.
